EPUBCheck OPF-100: fixed-layout property on text
Updated:
EPUBCheck OPF-100 is a usage message: “The "…" property only applies to pre-paginated content.” A property that only applies to fixed-layout (pre-paginated) content is set on reflowable content. It is a usage note (shown with -u), and the property is ignored there.
The official message
The "%1$s" property only applies to pre-paginated content.
- Default severity
- Usage. Informative only and hidden by default: it appears when EPUBCheck runs with -u (--usage). It does not make the EPUB invalid.
- EPUBCheck version
- 5.4.0
%1$s, %2$s… are filled in with the file, value or element EPUBCheck found.
Typical causes
- Fixed-layout settings such as page-spread-left or page-spread-right copied into a reflowable book.
- Spread properties on itemrefs of a book whose layout is reflowable.
- A template made for picture books reused for a text book.
How to fix it
- Read the property EPUBCheck names.
- If the book is reflowable, remove the property from the itemref.
- If the content really is fixed layout, declare it pre-paginated (rendition:layout) for the book or for that itemref.
When it's not this
If an itemref has both page-spread-left and page-spread-right, that is OPF-011.
