Privacy

Draft: this text describes what EpubCC does today and is pending legal review.

Your PDFs and EPUBs are private and deleted automatically: the EPUB 1 hour after your first download or 24 hours after it's ready, the original PDF as soon as the whole book is converted. We never publish them and never use them for training or benchmarks without your explicit permission.

Updated:

Your files

  • The PDF you upload and the EPUB we make are private to you (or to the browser session that uploaded them, if you have no account).
  • They go from your browser straight to the conversion engine, in resumable pieces; this website never stores them.
  • They are deleted automatically on the timeline in the table above, or right away with “Delete now”.
  • They are never published, and never used to train models or in our benchmark without your explicit permission.
  • Error reports we collect never include your files, file names, email or the text of your requests.

Email notices

If you ask us to email you when a conversion is ready, that address is used for that one message and then deleted. It is never added to a list.

Your account

  • With an account we store your email, a password hash and your plan.
  • We record how many pages each conversion used, to apply your monthly allowance.

Services we use

  • Stripe processes payments. We never see or store your card number.
  • Mailgun sends our emails (account, password reset, plan notices).
  • Google Analytics counts visits to our pages (which page, from which country and site). It never receives your files, their names, your email or anything you type. Google signals and ad personalisation are off.

Cookies

The site needs a few cookies to work: your session, CSRF protection for forms, and the language you chose. No advertising cookies.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without cookies. Elsewhere it sets its own cookies to tell new visits from returning ones.
