EPUBCheck OPF-067: file in link and manifest
Updated:
EPUBCheck OPF-067 is an error message: “The resource "…" must not be listed both as a "link" element in the package metadata and as a manifest item.” The same resource is listed both as a link in the metadata and as a manifest item. EPUB treats linked records and publication resources differently, so a file must be one or the other.
The official message
The resource "%1$s" must not be listed both as a "link" element in the package metadata and as a manifest item.
- Default severity
- Error. The EPUB breaks a rule of the specification and is invalid. Stores and Send to Kindle may reject it, and EPUBCheck exits with status 1.
- EPUBCheck version
- 5.4.0
%1$s, %2$s… are filled in with the file, value or element EPUBCheck found.
Typical causes
- A metadata record (such as an ONIX file) linked with link and also added to the manifest.
- A tool that adds every file in the folder to the manifest.
- A link added later for a file that was already declared.
How to fix it
When it's not this
If a local link simply lacks its media type, that is OPF-093.
