EPUBCheck OPF-015: unneeded manifest property
Updated:
EPUBCheck OPF-015 is an error message: “The property "…" should not be declared in the OPF file.” A manifest item declares a property that the document does not actually use, such as svg, mathml or scripted. EPUB asks for these properties to match the content, so a stale one is reported as an error.
The official message
The property "%1$s" should not be declared in the OPF file.
- Default severity
- Error. The EPUB breaks a rule of the specification and is invalid. Stores and Send to Kindle may reject it, and EPUBCheck exits with status 1.
- EPUBCheck version
- 5.4.0
%1$s, %2$s… are filled in with the file, value or element EPUBCheck found.
Typical causes
How to fix it
- Read the property and the file EPUBCheck names.
- Open the document and confirm it really contains no such element (svg, math or script).
- Remove the property from that manifest item, keeping any other properties it has.
When it's not this
If the document uses the feature and the property is missing, that is OPF-014.
