# EPUBCheck OPF-095: voicing link not audio, how to fix it

Source: https://epubcc.com/epubcheck/opf-095/ (updated 2026-11-04)

EPUBCheck OPF-095 is an error message: “The "media-type" attribute of "voicing" links must be an audio MIME type, but found "…".” A voicing link in the metadata declares a media type that is not audio. A voicing link points to a recording of a title or name being spoken, so its media type must be an audio type.

- Official message (EPUBCheck 5.4.0): The "media-type" attribute of "voicing" links must be an audio MIME type, but found "%1$s".
- Default severity: Error

## Typical causes

- A media type typo, such as audio/mp3 written as application/mp3.
- A link to a non-audio file marked as voicing by mistake.
- A media type copied from another link.

## How to fix it

1. Find the link EPUBCheck points to and check the file it links to.
2. Set media-type to the file's real audio type, for example audio/mpeg for MP3 or audio/mp4 for AAC.
3. If the file is not audio, change rel or remove the link.

## When it's not this

If the voicing link has no media type at all, that is OPF-094.
