Source: https://epubcc.com/epubcheck/opf-062/ (updated 2026-11-04)

EPUBCheck OPF-062 is a usage message: “Found Adobe page-map attribute on spine element in opf file.” The spine uses Adobe's old page-map attribute, a proprietary way of mapping print pages. It is a usage note (shown with -u): the attribute is not part of EPUB 3.

- Official message (EPUBCheck 5.4.0): Found Adobe page-map attribute on spine element in opf file.
- Default severity: Usage

## Typical causes

- EPUBs produced for Adobe Digital Editions in the EPUB 2 era.
- Templates or tools that still add a page-map.xml file.
- A spine copied from an older edition.

## How to fix it

1. Decide whether you still need Adobe's page map for older readers.
2. For EPUB 3, add a page list (nav epub:type="page-list") to the navigation document instead.
3. Then remove the page-map attribute from the spine and the page-map file from the manifest.

## When it's not this

If the page-map item the attribute names is missing from the manifest, EPUBCheck also reports OPF-063.
